KEY EVENT INFO

ATHLETE REGISTRATION

Before the sweat, the speed, and the friendly rivalry begins, it all starts here, Athlete Registration Night. Join us on Thursday 19 February, 6.30pm at Property Brokers Tokoroa, for the official Super Sports 2025 welcome.

This evening is your chance to pick up your registration pack, meet the organisers and other athletes, and get the full rundown on what’s in store for the weekend. Super Sports President Greg Draper will be leading the session, giving everyone the lowdown on the programme, venues, safety requirements, and a few golden nuggets of advice from someone who’s seen it all. Expect laughs, stories, and a few tips that might just give you the edge.

Entry is $260 per team, and every team is proudly sponsored by a local business, a tradition that brings the community together and adds an extra layer of hometown pride to the competition. This covers your registration plus a Super Sports t-shirt and singlet each.

It’s also a great opportunity to soak up the energy and excitement before things get serious on Friday. You’ll leave feeling motivated, organised, and part of the Super Sports family.

Can’t make it? No worries, just flick the team a message and we’ll make sure someone can collect your gear for you. But if you can come, trust us, you’ll want to be there. The weekend truly starts on Thursday night.

REQUIRED TRAINING SESSIONS

Before you step into competition mode, it’s time to sharpen your skills, literally, in some cases! Supersports features a few events that require mandatory training sessions to make sure everyone’s confident, safe, and ready to take on the challenge.

The training sessions cover:

  • Wood Sawing: Learn correct stance, rhythm, and safety techniques to make every cut count.

  • Archery: Get familiar with equipment, handling, and aim, precision is key.

  • Clay Bird Shooting: Safety comes first, but once you’re comfortable, we’ll help you find your groove.

These sessions are a chance to build confidence, meet fellow competitors, and pick up tips from our experienced event coordinators. Even if you’re a first-timer, you’ll walk away ready to perform like a pro.

Final dates, times, and locations will be confirmed soon, so keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for updates. Attendance at these sessions is required for all athletes, and honestly, you won’t want to miss them. They’re a fun, hands-on way to kickstart your Super Sports journey.

GEAR YOU'LL NEED

With over a dozen events packed into one massive weekend, Super Sports isn’t your average competition, and that means your gear bag is going to look a little different than usual! Some events provide all the equipment you’ll need, while others require you to bring your own.

Here’s the breakdown so you can come prepared:

  • Hexathlon: All athletics equipment supplied by Tokoroa Athletic Club.

  • Swimming: Bring your own togs and goggles.

  • Rollerskating: You’ll need your own pair of rollerskates.

  • Duathlon: Bring your own bike and helmet. A road bike is ideal, but whatever you’re comfortable on works fine. Helmets are mandatory.

  • Colsons Hill: All equipment supplied.

  • Club Challenge: All equipment supplied, but if you’ve got your own favourite lawn bowls, bring them along!

  • Obstacle Course: All equipment supplied, just bring your grit and determination.

  • Golf: Balls and some clubs are provided. You’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer. Rules will be explained at the event briefing.

  • Mountain Biking: Bring your own mountain bike and official helmet. Need help finding one? Get in touch with Larry Sullivan at Morrissey’s Tokoroa to see how he can assist.

  • Clay Bird Shooting: All equipment supplied.

  • Wood Sawing: All equipment supplied.

  • Ball Sports: All equipment supplied.

If you’re unsure about what to bring or can’t get your hands on something specific, don’t stress, reach out to the Super Sports team and we’ll do our best to help you out.
